Mentoring for MSMP
All mentors in the Montana Statewide Mentor Program (MSMP) receive mentor professional development by attending the Professional Learning Series developed by the New Teacher Center. This series is held in four sessions over the year, followed by a second year of the Quality Instructional Mentoring series designed specifically by mentors for Montana schools.
The mentors use formative assessment tools tailored specifically for Montana to structure their interactions with early career teachers. Mentors communicate weekly by phone, virtually, or in person. Mentors deeply understand the needs of early career teachers in rural schools in Montana. MSMP has prioritized Montana-specific culture, community, and school initiatives.
